Jennifer Lawrence is sharing a humorous, behind-the-scenes memory from the set of her 2012 romantic comedy-drama Silver Linings Playbook. During an appearance on the Wednesday, October 28, 2026 episode of Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, the 36-year-old Oscar winner recalled making an awkward remark to co-star Bradley Cooper immediately after filming the movie's climactic kissing scene, according to Yahoo Entertainment. In addition to reflecting on her acclaimed creative partnership with Cooper, Lawrence used the interview to push back against a long-standing rumor from The Hunger Games co-star Liam Hemsworth regarding her on-set eating habits.
While discussing her favorite memories from shooting the David O. Russell-directed feature, Lawrence brought up the "big makeout session" that takes place between her character, a young widow named Tiffany, and Cooper's character, a recent divorcee with bipolar disorder named Pat, near the end of the film. Right after the cameras stopped rolling on the romantic sequence, Lawrence attempted to make light of the repetitive nature of film production.
"I said, 'Aren't you so sick of kissing?' And he didn't like that," Lawrence told podcast host Alex Cooper, as reported by Page Six. While some coverage highlights the initial awkwardness of the comment, Lawrence's fuller retelling frames the exchange as a lighthearted misfire with her 51-year-old co-star. "I think he laughed, but it just was funny," she added. "It was one of those moments where you're like, 'Right?' and the other person's like, 'Oh.'"
Starstruck Beginnings and Dance Floor Doubts
Despite the minor comedic friction during their romantic scenes, Lawrence noted that the exchange remains one of her favorite moments from the production. Stepping onto the set of Silver Linings Playbook was initially intimidating for the actress, who admitted she "was definitely nervous" when meeting Bradley Cooper for the first time.
"He was in The Hangover. He was the biggest celebrity I think I ever met at that time," Lawrence explained on the podcast. "And I was like, 'Watch this. Hold my beer.'"
Her bravado was tested during the film's pivotal ballroom dance rehearsals. Although she projected confidence while the cameras were rolling, Lawrence confessed that she privately believed her choreography skills were lacking. "If you put a gun to my head while we were shooting, I would've been like, 'I'm really, really good. I'm an amazing dancer,'" she joked. In reality, her performance required a post-production narrative fix. "After we finished filming, I had to do ADR to say like, 'Yeah, I'm not that good of a dancer, but I like it, it's fun, it makes me happy,' because my dancing was so bad and it needed to be explained in the movie."
That candid approach extended to her line preparation alongside another Hollywood heavyweight. Speaking to Josh Horowitz at 92NY in January, Lawrence recalled a scene opposite Robert De Niro where she had to recite a complex string of sports statistics and numbers, according to Yahoo Entertainment. Because she did not check the call sheet the night before, she had to memorize the dialogue on the spot to avoid wasting De Niro's time. Although she nailed the first take, she admitted she fumbled every subsequent take, joking that the experience taught her she could get away with rapid, last-minute memorization.
A Blockbuster Partnership Built on Mutual Respect
During production, Lawrence admitted she did not fully grasp the project's box office or awards potential, joking on the podcast that she spent much of the shoot wondering what the movie was actually about. She noted that actors rarely anticipate massive success unless they are signing on to an established franchise like The Hunger Games.
Ultimately, Silver Linings Playbook became a major critical and commercial hit, grossing over $236 million worldwide and earning eight Academy Award nominations. On February 24, 2013, Lawrence won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Tiffany, and the film is currently being adapted into a stage musical.
The awkward makeout remark did nothing to slow down the professional momentum between Lawrence and Cooper. Following their 2012 collaboration, the duo reunited on screen three more times over the next three years, starring together in 2013's American Hustle, 2014's Serena, and 2015's Joy. During a 2015 red carpet Q&A cited by Page Six, Lawrence said she actively pushed for Cooper to join the cast of Serena, calling him "the best" and noting that any male role immediately makes her think of him. Cooper returned the praise at the time, stating that he respected her deeply as a professional and constantly learned from working alongside her.
Setting the Record Straight on Liam Hemsworth
Bradley Cooper was not the only leading man discussed during the Call Her Daddy interview. Host Alex Cooper also pressed Lawrence on a famous claim made years ago by her Hunger Games co-star Liam Hemsworth. In past interviews, Hemsworth called kissing Lawrence "pretty uncomfortable," alleging that his close friend would make a point of eating pungent foods like garlic or tuna fish—and skipping brushing her teeth—right before their romantic scenes, according to Just Jared.
While Hemsworth presented the anecdote as a humorous complaint about deliberate pranking, Lawrence rejected the idea that she ever intentionally sabotaged their scenes. Echoing a previous denial she made on Hot Ones in 2023, where she joked that Hemsworth needed to get over it, Lawrence explained that her meal choices were simply the byproduct of grueling production schedules.
"I didn't! I think that like I don't even know... what to say, Liam," Lawrence responded on the podcast. "We are filming for many months and filming takes a lot of time. He made it seem like that's just like something I did like on purpose. Like I would just... eat tuna." She did, however, confirm that she genuinely likes eating tuna.
Advocating for Boundaries on Set
Beyond the lighthearted nostalgia of her early 2010s blockbusters, Lawrence also used her podcast appearance to discuss how she leverages her current industry standing to protect younger performers. As reported by Nine.com.au, Lawrence recounted an incident on an undisclosed film set where unapproved crew members were present while she was filming nude scenes.
Lawrence stated that she "came down hard on it" to establish a clear standard on set. She explained that if an established star does not enforce strict boundaries regarding closed sets and approved personnel, an 18-year-old unknown actress would be left in an impossible position—forced to choose between letting unauthorized crew members see her unclothed or speaking up and risking a reputation for being difficult.
